Debido a que finalizaron su vida en pantalla, Game of thrones, Schitt’s Creek y Veep no están en carrera. Como aún no tienen nuevas temporadas al aire, series como Succession y The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel no pueden aspirar a repetir sus triunfos anteriores.
Como resultado, la competencia de los Premios Emmy 2021 la libran series como Ted Lasso y The flight attendant –en comedia–, así como The handmaid’s tale y The Crown en drama. La plataforma de esta última, Netflix, podría levantar uno de los tres galardones más estelares del evento, que hasta ahora les han resultado esquivos.
Por primera vez en formato presencial desde 2019, la ceremonia se desarrolla en Los Angeles con la presencia de Kate Winslet, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jason Sudeikis y Jean Smart, todos potenciales ganadores de la cita de este año.
